Film fans, mark Nov. 1: an Oscar winner is coming to Vancouver’s Park Theatre.
Director and writer Taika Waititi and cinematographer Mike Berlucchi will take audience questions after the Nov. 1 screening of Klara and the Sun.
Why this one is a big deal
Waititi is a Māori filmmaker from Aotearoa New Zealand who has become one of the most recognizable names in global cinema, with an Oscar to his name. Seeing someone who built a career on distinctive, humour-forward storytelling in the room, taking live questions, is the kind of thing that’s rare outside festival season.
Pairing him with the film’s cinematographer should also make for a Q&A that goes beyond the usual “what was it like working with…” questions and into how the film actually looks and feels.
