DD Mau Chinatown and Chupito Cocteleria Team Up for Feast & Friends Vol. 6

DD Mau Chinatown’s Feast & Friends dinner series returns August 23 with a Chupito Cocteleria collab — here’s what to know.

Two of Vancouver’s most flavour-forward kitchens are joining forces again. DD Mau Chinatown is bringing back its Feast & Friends collaboration dinner series for a sixth volume, teaming up with Chupito Cocteleria on Sunday, August 23.

DD Mau, the beloved Vietnamese spot tucked into Chinatown, has built the Feast & Friends series around exactly this kind of pairing — inviting guest chefs and bartenders in to riff alongside its own menu for one night only. This round brings in Chef Maria Ponce alongside the award-winning bartender duo Tara Davies and Erick Vazquez of Chupito Cocteleria, promising a night where Vietnamese and Latin flavours land on the same table.

Why collab dinners like this matter

Chinatown has spent years navigating a tricky balance — honouring its history as one of Vancouver’s oldest and most culturally significant neighbourhoods while its restaurant scene fights to stay financially viable. One-night collaborations like Feast & Friends are a genuinely smart way through that: they turn a slow Sunday into an event people plan around, cross-pollinate two restaurants’ regular customer bases, and give diners a menu they can’t get any other night of the year.

It’s also just a good showcase of how much range is sitting inside Vancouver’s independent restaurant scene right now — a Vietnamese Chinatown institution and a cocktail bar known for its own culinary identity, meeting in the middle for one dinner.
