Mount Pleasant’s Kavita is having a very good month, and you can taste why.
The Indian restaurant just earned its first Michelin Bib Gourmand in the 2026 Michelin Guide Vancouver. General manager Yash Shah also picked up the Guide’s Service Award.
The dinner
- What: Cultural Wednesdays, a monthly series exploring India’s regional cuisines with guest chefs
- When: Wednesday, October 21
- Where: Kavita, Mount Pleasant
- Format: a five-course, family-style dinner
- Chefs: Kavita’s executive chef Tushar Tondvalkar with guest chef Tushar Shroff of Indish
September’s opening dinner honoured Malvan, the coastal region tied to Tondvalkar’s childhood. This time the focus is Rajasthan, through the Marwari and Rajasthani heritage of Shroff, who is cooking recipes from his mother and grandmother and dishes from childhood travels through the region.
Why it’s worth a seat
Rajasthani cooking is shaped by an arid climate, so millet, lentils, gram flour and desert-grown ingredients like ker and sangri take centre stage. Rather than trying to represent a whole region in one menu, the night is built around dishes that matter personally to the chef, which is what makes dinners like this feel like storytelling more than a tasting menu.
It also fits Kavita’s approach, which draws on Tondvalkar’s food memories and blends in ingredients from B.C. Pricing was reported at about $91, so check with the restaurant for the latest details and to book.
