Thanksgiving Long Weekend in Vancouver: Halloween Frights, Fall Festivals and Free Things to Do

The Thanksgiving long weekend (October 9–12) is stacked in Vancouver, from fright nights and Halloween events to free fall festivals. Plan yours here.

It’s a long weekend, the leaves are doing their thing, and Halloween season has officially arrived in Vancouver. Here’s how to make October 9–12 count.

Go for the spooky stuff

Local event roundups for the long weekend point to Fright Nights at the PNE and the Capilano Suspension Bridge’s seasonal programming among the highlights. Halloween events across Metro Vancouver are already under way, including haunted tea at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and a fright festival at Maan Farms in the Fraser Valley.

Keep it cozy and free

A free fall festival, Harvest Festival at Inlet District in Port Moody, is bringing cozy vibes and pumpkin giveaways to the weekend. Free community events like this are the best way to spend a long weekend without blowing your budget.

Make it local

  • Pick one neighbourhood and walk it: Commercial Drive, Main Street and Granville Island all do fall well.
  • Eat at a local, independent spot instead of a chain.
  • Check each event’s official page for times, prices and tickets, since those change and we couldn’t verify them all.

However you spend the weekend, support local artists and small businesses along the way. What’s on your Thanksgiving weekend plan? 🍂
