Canucks fans, your 4 p.m. just got an upgrade.
Satiar Shah, one of Vancouver’s best-known Canucks voices, is returning to the airwaves after about three and a half months on the sidelines. His new home is The Sat Shah Show, debuting Monday, Oct. 26.
What’s coming
- Live shows on YouTube every weekday at 4 p.m.
- Canucks post-game coverage
- Part of Sick Media’s podcast network, where it’s the company’s first Vancouver-focused sports podcast
How we got here
Shah was a longtime host and Canucks analyst at Sportsnet 650, the Vancouver radio station Rogers shut down in July. He’s been off the air since. For listeners who grew up with that daily sports-talk habit, the station’s closure left a real gap, and his return fills part of it.
What it says about local media
The move from terrestrial radio to a YouTube-first, podcast-network model is a shift a lot of local voices are making. Sick Media describes itself as one of the fastest-growing sports media companies in North America, with more than seven million followers. For a Vancouver audience, it means a South Asian voice that people already trust in the sports conversation is staying part of it, on a platform you can watch live or catch later.
